Policy on sanctioning procedures and deadlines for 2008 USOF Championship bids For 2008 the following policies will be in place. These policies apply to all USOF Championship bids including those in non-Foot-O disciplines such as Trail-O, Ski-O, and Rogaine. 1) All bid applications are to be submitted on a standard USOF sanctioning form to the sanctioning committee chair. Those bids which are for non-Foot-O disciplines will be forwarded to the appropriate committee for approval. This will insure that the sanctioning calendar stays up to date. 2) Bids received prior to December 31, 2007 will be presented to the Board of Directors at their March 2007 meeting and will receive maximum consideration. 3) Bids received after this date will be considered as they are received. The standard deadline for sanctioning applications is 12 months prior to the date of the meet. Applications received after this timeframe will require a waiver from the Vice-President of Competition. 4) NO waivers will be granted for Championship bids submitted less than 9 months prior to the event date. This policy is being instituted to insure that our Championships are of a high quality both in meet and course organization and in the depth of the competing field. When Championships are added to the calendar at the last minute it prevents many competitors from making appropriate travel and budget plans to attend. Clubs will hopefully find the Championships important enough that they will make the necessary plans to insure enough marketing lead time to put on true Championship events. If an event is not bid in a timely manner, it will simply be left off of the 2008 calendar. This will not preclude the event from returning in 2009. 5) Waivers may be granted with less than 9 months lead time for non-championship A-meets.
