Steps to get an A meet sanctioned:
-
Review the Sanctioning Package.
-
Review the planning calendar and various
sanctioning calendars to get an idea of what else is going on, and
attempt to avoid/resolve any conflicts.
-
If it is less than 6 months before your race, you will
need a waiver from the USOF VP
of Competition before your request can be submitted. Please take care of
this before sending the request to me.
-
Championship bids for calendar year 2008 are due Dec 31, 2006. The USOF VP of Competition will not grant waivers for any championship
bids that are received 9 months or less before the proposed date of your
race. NB (06-Oct-07): This is the old policy of the previous VP of Comp. As far as I know, the present VP of Comp is AWOL, therefore there is no policy, so the policy is that I will send your bid along the board, and let them decide, regardless of the timing, until such time as there is a VP of Comp who sets a policy or reaffirms this one In general, championship bids for a particular calendar year are due Dec 31st of the calendar year 2 years before. On occasion, there will
be exceptions to this which will be announced, typically for the
Interscholastics and North Americans. Note that the Ski-O championship
is sanctioned by the Ski-O committee, the North American and US Rogaine
Championhips are sanctioned by the Rogaine committee, and the Trail-O
Championship is sanctioned by the Trail-O committee.
However, these bids still need to go thru me, and I'll send them
along. (See the entire policy here).
-
Fill out the form and e-mail it
to me. Please do not send the form via snail mail. Plaintext is much preferred by the members of the sanctioning
committee, but the form is available in Word
format also (tho please don't send .docx files; my version of Word doesn't read them.) Newer versions of Word create these by default, but there is an option to save as a .doc, which you will need to do for me to read them, sorry). Incomplete forms, including those missing the
safety plan, will be returned. Here is an
example
safety plan. (The goal is to eventually provide a
web-based wizard to to this, but this is a ways off ...) Please do not send the form via snail mail.
-
Clean bids should then go to the committee within 3 days of me
receiving them. The committee will then vote for the next 2 weeks or
so. You will be cc:'d on most committee discussion and voting. Expect
the total process to take about 3 to 4 weeks from submission, unless I am
traveling. Expect bids submitted via snail mail to take
1 to 2 weeks longer.
